It’s nearly time to fire up the glitterball and dust off those salsa shoes – because Strictly Come Dancing is heading back to our screens for its 2022 series.
And once again a new batch of intrepid celebrities are set to take to the floor to give us their best dance moves, show off their best tango face and generally keep us glued to the screen of a Saturday night.
This year’s line-up is looking as good as ever – but who has been confirmed for the series so far?
Here’s who you’ll be watching on the dancefloor this autumn…
Who is in the Strictly 2022 line-up?
Actor Will Mellor – best known for the likes of Two Pints Of Lager and A Packet Of Crisps as well as Coronation Street (in which he played Harvey Gaskell) – was revealed as the first contestant to be taking to the ballroom floor.
‘I’m honestly so chuffed to be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this year!’ he enthused.
‘Not going to lie, it’s totally out of my comfort zone and I know it will be a huge challenge but that’s what life is all about.
‘This is also my Mum’s favourite show and she’s had a really tough few years so I’m doing this for her as well. Bring it on!’
Actress, singer and presenter Kym Marsh was the second celebrity to be confirmed for a spin around the dancefloor.
Kym originally found fame as a member of Hear’Say, the band formed on the ITV show Popstars in 2000, but is best-known to many viewers as Coronation Street’s Michelle Connor – a role she played from 2006 until 2019.
Currently, she is a presenter on BBC One’s Morning Live – and she has admitted that doing Strictly has long been an ambition.
‘I’ve considered doing Strictly for years but the timings never worked out. I’m so delighted that this year they have!’ Kym said.
‘I’m a huge fan of the show and can’t believe I’m going to go from watching at home in my pyjamas to actually dancing in front of the judges in a glittery dress, it’s unreal!’
Radio 2 favourite Richie Andersonwas the third person confirmed for this year’s line-up.
Richie is an RTS (Royal Television Society) award-winning presenter best known for his well-established role on BBC Radio 2’s Breakfast Show, fronting the travel bulletins as well as hosting a wide variety of his own shows.
‘This is a dream come true! I cannot wait to get in those sparkles and sequins and shimmy across the most famous dance floor in the world!’ Richie said.
I’m going to have to cancel my legendary Strictly launch night kitchen party that I throw every year, I’m sure my friends and family will understand.
He also confirmed he will be part of a same-sex pairing on this year’s show saying: ‘It’s also a massive honour to be part of an all-male dance partnership, it’s so important we have that inclusion on such a huge show.’
Richie will be the second star to be part of an all-male partnership after John Whaite reached the finalwith Johannes Radebelast year, although will be the third star to be part of a same-sex partnership on the show, following Nicola Adams’ pairing with Katya Jones in 2020.
The fourth celebrity was confirmedas journalist and broadcaster Kaye Adams.
Kaye is best-known as one of the regular presenters of Loose Women, as well as for hosting the morning show on BBC Radio Scotland, and fronting the podcast How To Be 60 With Kaye Adams.
She said of her involvement in the show: ‘I said I wanted to make the last year of my fifties memorable and I can’t think of a better way of doing it than showing the world my two left feet. Pray for me!’
Kaye has also admitted she is ‘terrified’ at the thought of being on Strictly, saying: I can think of a million reasons not to do this and I can still think of a million reasons not to do this.
‘But I thought, “Am I going to be thinking at the end of September I wish I’d done this”. I’m 59, 60 at the end of this year and I was like, “Well, why not?” If I enjoy myself, I’ll be so happy.’
Comedian Jayde Adams was the fifth nameto be confirmed for the Strictly 2022 line-up.
Jayde is an award-winning performer who was also nominated for the coveted Best Newcomer prize with her debut stand-up tour at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2016.
She’s also been seen on TV in shows including Alma’s Not Normal and Good Omens.
‘Since I watched the first series in 2004, I feel like every step I’ve taken in my career over the last 11 years was to be on Strictly.
‘I cannot begin to express the emotions I am feeling, this means so much to me and my family. I’ve always watched it, apart from a brief hiatus in 2011 as I was relentlessly gigging every weekend (to try and get on Strictly). I’ve been a massive fan of the show for years.
‘I feel like I’m watching myself in a dream and I can’t believe I’ve manifested this. Holding this in has been torture for me!’
More contestants will be posted here as they are announced.
Five-time Paralympic champion and broadcaster Ellie Simmonds is the sixth celebrity set to take to the ballroom floor.
Ellie first rose to fame in 2008 competing in the Summer Paralympics in Beijing. She won two gold medals for Great Britain, despite being the youngest member of the team, at the age of 13.
Upon the news being announced, Ellie said: ‘Oh my gosh!! I’m literally bursting with excitement!! It’s been soooo hard keeping this secret as I’ve wanted to tell everyone. I’m going on Strictly Come Dancing!! I’m a tad nervous too, well more than a tad… I’m absolutely petrified!
‘To be asked to be part of the Strictly family is just so exciting and I cannot wait, it’s going to so much fun. I’m counting down the minutes until it starts; learning to dance, meeting my partner and everyone else involved in the show. Plus wearing the sequins and all that, It’s going to be a blast.
‘I’ve been watching Strictly from as far back as I can remember; it’s a traditional lead up to Christmas with my family and it’s a genuine privilege to be part of it.’
From the radio station to the ballroom! Tyler West is the seventh contestant to be announced for Strictly 2022.
Tyler presents the weekday afternoon slot on the popular station Kiss FM, and also works as a TV presenter. He’s hosted MTV News, The MTV Movie Show and BBC Three show Flat Out Fabulous.

Of joining the show, he said: ‘I am SO gassed to be joining the Strictly family! As I started writing this I already got cramp.
‘It’s going to be one crazy incredible journey which will no doubt be SO far outside my comfort zone. It’s a show that means so much to me and my family and I can’t wait to seriously shake a leg on that shiny dance floor… with a side of sequins.’
Singer-songwriter and actor Matt Goss was confirmed as the eighth contestant on this year’s series.
Matt, 53, originally found fame as the frontman of 80s boyband Bros – which also featured his twin brother Luke – with the group scoring such hits as When Will I Be Famous? and the chart-topper I Owe You Nothing.
Matt joked of his new venture: ‘I’m extremely nervous and excited, but I’m optimistic because I’m very supple from the knees down.’
Matt has previously had a brush with the ballroom, having been one of the celebrity contestants in the 2013 Christmas special.
Actress and comedian Ellie Taylor became the ninth contestant to be announced for the new series on August 9.
Fans of the series may recognise the Basildon born entertainer as host of The Great Pottery Throw Down, as well as her appearances on the likes of Mock The Week, the Mash Report and Live At The Apollo.

‘At the moment I’m focusing on the excitement and glitter and choosing to ignore the fact that I have the dancing ability of a newly born giraffe. Bring it on’ she added.
Singer and CBBC star Molly Rainford was the tenth celebrity to be confirmed for the 2022 dancefloor.
The 21-year-old – who is the youngest celebrity so far this year – finished sixth in the 2012 series of Britain’s Got Talent, losing out to eventual winners Ashleigh and Pudsey.

We’re about to find out, as the former Arsenal and England captain becomes the 11th celebrity to be confirmed for the 2022 series – in an attempt to bring the Glitterball Trophy home.
Tony said of joining the show: ‘To say I’m excited is an understatement – the lure of the sequins and the call of the salsa has me swapping my battered old football boots for a set of Strictly soft shoes.
‘Am absolutely thrilled to be giving it my all on this year’s 20th anniversary of Strictly Come Dancing. I can’t wait to meet my partner – god help her – and start the dancing.’
Sax singer and X Factor star Fleur East is the 12th contestant to be announced for Strictly 2022.

Joining Strictly is no doubt emotional for Fleur, as she revealed her late father was a fan. She said: ‘It’s such an honour to be on the show after years of watching it with my Father who loved it so much.
‘Unfortunately my Dad is no longer with us but I know he will be watching over the ballroom in spirit. I’m doing this to make him and my family proud and can’t wait to get my dancing shoes on!’
Cameraman and presented Hamza Yassin was the 13th contestant announced to join this year’s lineup.
With experience both in front of and behind the camera on the likes of Countryfile and Animal Park, Strictly could well be Hamza’s wildest challenge yet.
‘I am absolutely over the moon to be joining Strictly 2022. Never in a million years did I think I’d be on such a cool show’ said Hamza.
‘I’ve been watching it for years and I can’t believe I’ll actually be there dancing live in front of the British public. My dance skills are currently at the level of ‘1970’s disco vibe’ but I’m ready to work hard and will be shaking it every time I get the chance – shake it ‘til you make it!’
EastEnders star James Bye was the 14th contestant announced for 2022’s series of Strictly.

‘There are some huge dance shoes to fill and it’s truly exciting to follow in the footsteps of some amazing EastEnders talent. I’d love to do everyone proud.’

Ever since Strictly Come Dancing first aired in 2004, it's been bringing glitter, rhinestones and dad dancing to Saturday night TV.
Strictly episodes are recorded in Elstree's George Lucas Stage 2, which is a whopping 15,770 square foot and can accommodate an audience of up to 750 people – although it won't be at maximum capacity this year due to the risk of COVID-19.
